Tommy Lee

Early life

Tommy Lee was born on October 3, 1962 in Athens, Greece to the family of an American US Army Sergeant David Lee Thomas Bas, his father and mother Vassiliki “Voula” Papadimitriou. He was raised in California with his sister Athens when their family moved when he was two years old. His love of drums was appreciated by his parents. They bought him his first drumsticks when he was four and later a real drum set when he was a teenager. Not much information about his education is available online, but it is known that he dropped out of high school to start his career in music.

Tommy Lee career

Tommy’s career began when he dropped out of school and formed the LA club band Suite 19. They gained popularity in the 1970s when the band performed regularly at the Sunset Strip Club Circuit in Los Angeles. There he met Nikki Sixx, who was in the process of starting a theater band. Nikki was very impressed with Tommy’s drumming. They finally came together in 1981 to form a new group, joined by guitarist Mick Mars and vocalist Vince Neil. They called the band Mötley Crüe. They soon gained popularity and released their first album Too Fast for Love. Not only because of his drumming skills, he soon became notorious for his indecent behavior in concerts. The band often used heavy drugs. Lee temporarily left Mötley Crüe and formed a band called Methods of Mayhem in 1999.

But the band soon broke up in 2000. In 2002 he released his first solo album, Never Dull A Moment. In 2004 he rejoined his first band and the band embarked on their first tour in 2005, The Red, White & Crüe Tour 2005: Better Live Than Dead. That same year, Tommy released his second solo album, Tommyland: The Ride, and his autobiography, Tommyland. In 2006 he formed a new band called Rock Star Supernova. In November 2007, it was revealed that Tommy had bitterly left the Mötley Crüe band after the other members had some trouble with his manager, but he toured with the band again in 2008.

Rise to Fame

From 2009-2011 the band Methods of Mayhem reformed and carried out various projects. In 2014, he performed on the Smashing Pumpkins album Monuments to an Elegy. That same year, he rejoined the band Mötley Crüe and the bandmates for the group’s farewell tour. In addition to his music career, he is also involved in the film and television industry.
